Creamy Chai Panna Cotta, an easy 5 ingredient Christmas dessert in 5 minutes.
Continuing our theme of 5 Minutes + 5 Ingredients = Fast and Festive Holiday Treats, I present this easy and elegant panna cotta. What, I ask, is simpler to whip together in literally five minutes flat? The time in the fridge for it to set up and chill is totally inactive.
The chai flavor in this is subtle, really letting the simplicity of the creamy not-too-sweetness come through. I grated a little nutmeg on top for the picture, primarily just to avoid photographing a bowl of off-white (it can be done, but by people far more skilled and equipped than I). Consider it an optional flourish.
CREAMY CHAI PANNA COTTA
1/2 cup chai concentrate (such as Tazo, Oregon Chai, or Pacific brand)
1 packet gelatin
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar or coconut sugar
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
Pour chai concentrate into a small bowl, and stir in the gelatin powder. Set aside. In a small saucepan, whisk together the heavy cream and sugar, and set over medium heat. Bring it to a full boil, and then reduce slightly so it doesn’t boil over. Pour the chai/gelatin mixture into the pan, whisking until completely dissolved. Add cardamom. Cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and pour into six dishes – ceramic ramekins work perfectly.
That’s basically it! Active time really about 5 minutes. The rest is just (literally) chill time. Cool the ramekins uncovered at room temperature. When cool, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 3-4 hours (or overnight).
